Island of Happiness

I woke up this morning to great stress. To my surprise, I was unable to do something that used to be a cakewalk for me earlier. It was a simple yoga asana, Gomukhasana. I had become so stiff that it was nearly impossible for me. All this corona lockdown, tampered lifestyle, more fatty food prepared by the inner chef in me, little to zero exercises, had done its due job. But can I put all this on lockdown phase or it’s just me who is so naturally enjoying the basic instinct of my very own nature, laid back lifestyle! Ohh God, I have indeed become stiffer, both mind wise and body-wise. Let’s do it, restart. So I found a way, by simply focusing on the solution itself and voila, I was doing it again, even better than earlier, in just 10 minutes. How? Keep reading!

Swim to your Island of happiness!

So I did this simulation of an island in my head, sun shining bright above the island, bunch of coconut trees, deep blue sea and Me, a little far away from the island, somewhere in the sea from where I can swim my way to the island.
Swimming by sitting in popular Yoga asana ‘padmasana’, on my yoga mat, closed eyes, freestyle strokes, butterfly strokes in the air, just like real. Keep breathing normally. It felt so real that I was trying to reach the island so fast, that I did it for longer and better. I did it. I reached the island. The above simulation was also a solution to another of my problems. I was not able to do the swimming exercise for more than 15 seconds, but now it’s close to a minute. With the simulation strategy, I was able to focus my mind on a story rather than the tiredness of my hands. In nutshell, clear your path to the island by following simple analogy:

  • Problem : water/bad thoughts
  • Solution: swimming exercise/ Focus non stop
  • Goal: island/ peace

My Achievements

  • My upper body was flexible enough to regain my ability to do Gomukhasan. I repeated swimming simulation for couple of more times, and I did Gomukhasana way more better than earlier.
  • Discovered my way of meditation, had a clearer mind, flushed from all my worries and strengthened to face another day (like these)ahead of us!
  • I learnt that we get stressed on a regular basis, so distressing should be regular too.
